KTM Powersports AG chose a special Transportation Management System for special transports

The motorcycle manufacturer and power wear producer KTM headquartered in Mattighofen, Austria is world leader in its core business motorcycles.

12/23/2009 inet-logistics was instructed by KTM to optimize the multi-mode special transport processes around the globe. The compilation of comprehensive cost overviews in this area was very time-consuming and complex. The up to now manually entered special transport orders of KTM Sportmotorcycle AG and KTM Sportscar GmbH are now newly organized by inet Transportation Management, a solution of the Transportation Management System. The system was implemented in Mattighofen and Graz, Austria.

Since the beginning of November the modules transportation dispatching and transportation order management support the multi-mode tenders and the dispatching of all special transports covering air, sea and road transportation as well as express and parcel services. In addition, the print of labels certified by express services and parcel service providers is facilitated by the module Multi Parcel Shipping. A new authorization workflow in the form of a two-step distribution request workflow ensures that all special transports are approved by the respectively authorized persons in accordance to the four-eyes-principle.

KTM thereby profits on the one hand from reduced transportation costs due to the tendering functionality which enables a fast and simple determination of the best service providers and services. On the other hand, lower process costs are achieved thanks to the new authorization workflow, the integrated tendering tool including label printing and the optimized transportation dispatching.
