Pickup Process

The standardisation of the pickup process according to the VDA-recommendation 5004 is an important step towards the simplification of transports across companies.

The Internet-based standard software solution logistics-server® consistently continues the standardisation towards automation: OEMs, suppliers and logistics service providers receive all information which they need for the fulfilment of their tasks in good time. The participants either directly connect their IT-systems via standardised interfaces (EDIFACT and/or VDA) to the logistics-server® or they use the information which is provided there via WEB-EDI. In this way the central synchronisation between the transport-planning-data by the OEMs and the shipment-status-information by the logistics service providers and the transport-order-data by the suppliers takes place.

The logistics-server® furthermore offers functional support for the planning, control and execution of the transports. Data from the supply-schedule-receipts get imported and on the basis of these receipts target-transport-orders get automatically generated which then again can be directly grouped into tours by means of rules, for example. The electronic delivery notes according to VDA 4913 get generated by the suppliers and automatically/manually assigned to the transport orders. In case that deviations from the original planning should occur later on between the suppliers and the service providers these deviations get identified accurately. Up-to-date status information is available during the transport at all times. Furthermore, the logistics service providers directly inform the OEM according to VDA 4921 about upcoming goods receipts and their exact arrival time.

The pickup process becomes transparent and continuously controllable for all participants, the warranty of the supply guarantee gets improved - while at the same time the work involved in trouble-shooting gets reduced. Furthermore, significant optimisation potentials for inbound transport processes can be exploited.
