Web-based IT-solutions optimize pickup process for a transparent inbound logistics

(logistics.de 10.2006) A multitude of participating supply chain partners who have many varying IT-systems does not make inbound transports very transparent and efficient. In order to avoid the worst case, i.e., a production stop, the consequences of intransparencies over the transport processes get counterbalanced by expensive special transports again and again.

By means of the standardisation of the pickup process according to the VDA-recommendation 5004 an important step towards harmonisation was taken. However, the logical continuation towards the automation of processes is still missing.

Internet-based standard software solutions now offer the possibility to connect all logistics partners to a uniform system. In this way central processes do not only get automated but transparency and controllability also get significantly improved at the same time.
