Exploiting optimisation potentials within global logistics processes

(S@pport 10.2006) The cross-company linking-up of business processes is definitely not a new subject. However, it gains in topicality and quality by means of the SAP Netweaver. In this case it is far more than a simple change to a new IT-platform though. It is a matter of defining new and continuous process chains, tasks and responsibilities. Truly efficient are only those structures which are independent of the IT-systems of the individual supply chain partners and which can be utilised by the users in their respectively preferred manner. The idea of using a central platform will thus prevail.

The company inet-logistics has already early on specialised in the development of an appropriate platform and has connected nearly all of the relevant logistics partners and approximately 120 companies from various industries such as automotive, retail, pharmaceutics etc. to it. The Internet-based standard software solution for supply chain execution "logistics-server" synchronises the goods and information flow during cross-company transport processes. Via the certified SAP-interface SAP-users can use this information platform across companies together with all partners who are involved in the transport process. Users can access the platform from their own IT-environment with hardly any administrative efforts.
