The transport sector still offers many potentials for optimization, if scheduling, improvement and controlling is carried out via ERP systems
(Dispo 10.2006) The transport sector still offers many unexploited optimisation potentials. Reasons for this situation: the process costs for the planning, scheduling and monitoring of transports are too high within many companies due to the high percentage of manual work involved. And the freight cost controlling has often only been set up rudimentarily. By means of intelligent planning and transparency during cross-company transports it is possible to achieve sustainable cost savings.
In the centre of all optimisation endeavours concerning the field freight cost management is the challenge of synchronising the information and material flow across companies. Internet-based IT-solutions support within this context the integrated linking up of all supply chain partners. Modern standard software solutions such as the Internet-based logistics-server® by inet-logistics can be accessed and used by all partners which participate in the transport process from their own IT-environment.
The standard software which is specialised in all things which are related to the supply chain execution has its own logic by means of which transports can be optimised independent of the work flows which have been defined in the ERP-system. At the same time they also function as a platform through which all supply chain partners can look at the up-to-date planning and/or in case of an integration with the in-house-systems they get actively informed about the up-to-date status of the transport orders.
