Coordination in Supply Chain

After optimizing the in-house processes, many companies attract notice to the cross-company logistics processes

(Packaging Austria 04.2007) This designation summarises all tasks which are related to the transport-, procurement-, freight cost and loading device management. In the light of such a cost volume highest importance is given to the search for saving potentials. The basic challenge is to create a joint basis for the collaboration of all supply chain partners. And as a common denominator the Internet is available to all participants. The solution thus is a web-based platform which can functionally serve different purposes. It offers the possibility to provide all information which is relevant for a company centrally and at the same time to transfer data via standard interfaces for further processing directly to the inventory managing systems of the connected partners. At this point there are two ways for saving costs. On the one hand the additional information provides more transparency and stability within the logistics processes and on the other hand an important hurdle on the way towards the nearly complete process automation gets cleared.

Especially companies from the automotive industry have taken on a pioneering role with regard to the implementation of such solutions. Experience shows that the synchronisation of the material and information flow can lead towards significant cost cuttings as well as more transparency and process reliability.
