Efficient Transportation Management works on the same Principle as a Colony of Ants
Ants mark out the quickest route for each other by laying down a trail of scent. Dynatour uses the same system to optimize existing logistics software.
(Computerwelt 08.2009) An everyday situation for a freight scheduler in transportation management: working under considerable time pressure, he tries to allocate incoming transportation orders to the available resources. Optimizing the resultant tours and routes is his next challenge. Plus, he has to bear in mind all the environmental implications.
In order to solve such complex problems arising within transportation management, the Profactor Group in Steyr (Austria) have got together with Vorarlberg-based inet-logistics to develop software for Supply Chain Execution (SCE). Dynatour supports haulage contractors and their schedulers in optimizing tour and route planning. The algorithms formulated by the software are analogous to the behavior of ants.
